Brownies take over library

Three local Brownie packs spent a fun filled sleepover at the Bostall Library near Bexleyheath on 18th February 2014.

Drawn together from across the County, we had a total of 22 girls from the 12th Royal Eltham North Brownies, the 3rd Plumstead Common Brownies and the 1st Royal Eltham North Brownies.  Although some of the girls already knew each other from school, combining units created a great opportunity to make new friends

Arriving in the early evening the girls were entertained by Bexley library staff who very kindly supplied iPads and a Wii.   After a quick sandwich the girls had a chance to read from the many hundreds of books available before they gathered to enjoy Big Brownie Birthday buns specially baked for the occasion by 3rd Plumstead Common Brown Owl, Lorraine Burgess [pictured] which included a fabulous Big Brownie Birthday topper and perfect yellow icing.  All of the girls agreed that the cake was the highlight of the night!

The girls then got their heads down for a surprisingly quiet night’s sleep before a breakfast of croissants and fruit juice and then home to enjoy the rest of the half term holiday.  The girls agreed that the library was one of the most unusual places they’ve ever slept in.

Special thanks to Alison Poole, Lorraine Burgess and Caroline Chandler who very bravely joined the adventure and to Bexley Council for their hospitality.
